Touch of class from capital agencies

ADVERTISING agencies from across London raised £3,300 for Wooden Spoon after battling it out in The Big Pitch II touch rugby tournament.

Mixed sides from AMV BBDO, Ogilvy, Redwood, MullenLowe, Proximity, FCB Inferno and adam&eveDDB headed to the prestigious Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) for the competition, which also featured a team from the children’s charity of rugby.

AMV BBDO and Wooden Spoon made it to the day’s final, with the charity side eventually claiming the title after being pushed hard by their opponents. MullenLowe were victorious in the plate competition.

The winning team was presented with their trophy by Wooden Spoon co-founder and trustee Nigel Timson, who also drew a raffle.

Organiser Matt Stimson said: “All the teams had a lot of fun in what was a hotly-contested tournament.

“I am thrilled with the number of people who took part and very happy we were able to raise some money for Wooden Spoon and increase awareness of the charity’s great work.”

Matt added his thanks to referees from the London and Kent Rugby Unions for their expertise and for ensuring every game was played in a light-hearted and friendly manner.
