Fantastic fundraising provides brilliant boost to our West Midlands region
Wooden Spoon took its Rugby Roadshow to Lichfield RFC recently, with the junior sections providing fantastic fundraising support for our West Midlands region.
The children all got stuck in to activities, with each age group taking part in a Power Pass Challenge for the children’s charity of rugby. The Power Pass works by children passing a rugby ball to each other as many times as possible in two minutes… you can see the results below.
The charity’s magnificent mascot, Spoony, was guest of honour and kept the junior sections entertained during their morning training session. A big thank you goes out to the coaches for allowing us to interrupt their training!

In the afternoon, Lichfield Ladies took on Darlington Ladies in a Premiership clash coming out on top, winning 42-16 cementing their second position in the English Women’s Premiership. The team showed their support by sporting our new Wooden Spoon rugby socks, with money raised on the day through sales of Wooden Spoon merchandise.
A massive thank you to Lichfield Ladies (especially Becky Williams) and all of the junior sections that supported this day, we look forward to coming back very soon!

We were delighted to join locals and friends of the charity at the The Star Inn & Restaurant in Great Wyrley, Staffordshire as they hosted the Wooden Spoon Ultimate 80’s Night.
The crowds embraced the 80’s theme, dancing the night away to hits by Wham and The Human League amongst others. The raffle, auction and disco bingo raised in excess of £750 on the night, which will be a great boost towards a project the regional committee have identified in Staffordshire.
Our sincere thanks go to Paul & Anthony for their hard work, and Trevor & Gary, the owners, for supporting this fantastic event at their wonderful venue.
