Since 2001 we have raised more than £500,000 for community projects, with disadvantaged and disabled pupils at Barndale School, Collingwood School and Beacon Hill School among the hundreds of children to benefit.
Our biggest donation to date was a pledge of £200,000 to the Percy Hedley Foundation, which was used to help fund a sports centre and activity areas for disabled people with cerebral palsy, communication impairments, sensory impairments and complex learning, social care and therapeutic needs.
2023 was a great year for fundraising for the region with our annual ‘SpoonFest’ once again being a success and our exceptional ‘Cricket at Bamburgh Castle’ event being our highlight of recent years which helped raise over £20K. Please see our recent news stories, projects and planned events for 2024 below and may we take this opportunity in saying thank you to everyone who has supported us. The committee are looking forward to another busy year with some new ‘Partner Clubs’ joining us and our first 2 day ‘SpoonFest’ which is set to be a fantastic weekend.
Wooden Spoon Northumberland has funded a range of projects from sensory rooms to therapy suites.
