Join us in our celebrations

2023 marks a very special year for Wooden Spoon as we celebrate our 40th birthday.

This also coincides with the 200th anniversary of when Rugby School student, William Webb Ellis, with a fine disregard for the rules of football, took the ball in his arms and ran with it, originating the game of rugby football.

To mark these two important milestones Wooden Spoon and Rugby School are putting on a number of events and activities throughout the year and we would love you to get involved.

Where the money goes

All money raised from will be shared amongst Wooden Spoon and Rugby School.

Wooden Spoon will use their share to fund life-changing projects supporting vulnerable children and young people in the UK.

Rugby School’s share will go to the new 1823 Bursary at Rugby School, to help nurture a future rugby star.
