Wooden Spoon Sussex in association with Sussex County Cricket Club, are delighted to invite you to our annual ‘Cricket Meets Spoon’ Charity Lunch at the County Cricket Ground in Hove on 25th September 2019.
Date: 25th September 2019
Venue: Sussex County Cricket Ground, Eaton Rd, Hove BN3 3AN
We’ll be enjoying ourselves not only by watching bat on ball as Sussex host Worcestershire on the third day of their final and, perhaps, crucial Championship match of the season, but also in the Boundary Room Marquee, with the irrepressible Tony Cottey again as MC. As well as the cricket – in what will be the opening week of the Rugby World Cup in Japan, though the only game on the 25th is Fiji v Uruguay, KO 6.15 am – you’ll enjoy:
• Entry and a seat at the boundary for the whole day.
• An excellent three course lunch with coffee and mint chocs and, of course, a bar.
• ‘Heads and Tails’ and an auction that, this year, includes (tbc) use of villas in exotic locations and Porsche and flight simulators.
• Our rugby guest. This year we’re fortunate to have for our Q&A, Lee Byrne with 45 Wales caps at 15 (including a Grand Slam), a Lions tour and a rugby background in Wales and France. James Hook’s recent Dream Team in The Rugby Paper included Lee at 15 (‘sheer class’) in a backline that included Dan Carter, Shane Williams, Brian O’ Driscoll, and Sonny Bill Williams, Lee’s autobiography ‘The Byrne Identity’, charting his non-standard progress through the game from grass roots to the very pinnacle, is well worth a read.
As well as enjoying a really entertaining day, your presence will support Wooden Spoon in raising significant funds to benefit children and young people living in Sussex who are disabled or facing disadvantage.
