Gloucestershire Annual Golf Day at Tewkesbury Park Hotel

On Friday, September 27, 2024, Wooden Spoon Gloucestershire Region held its highly anticipated Annual Golf Day at the stunning Tewkesbury Park Hotel in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. This joint charity event brought together dedicated supporters and golf enthusiasts for a day filled with friendly competition, networking, and scenic views at this luxurious venue.

The day saw participation from 11 competitive teams of four, featuring players from some of the region’s prominent companies, including Aqua Construction, Dee & Griffin, AMS (fielding two teams), Bruton Knowles, Lister Communications, Elmrep, Central Roofing (with two teams), Combustion Solutions, and Smiths Waste Management. With representatives from these well-regarded organisations, the event offered a lively atmosphere and an opportunity for participants to showcase their golfing skills. After a tightly contested day, Lister Communications’ team emerged as the champions, celebrating their achievement with the rest of the attendees.

One of the key annual charity events for Wooden Spoon Gloucestershire, the Golf Day offered exceptional value at £399 per team of four. This fee included tea, coffee, and bacon rolls on arrival, followed by a two-tee start at 10 am on Tewkesbury Park’s beautiful parkland course. Participants enjoyed 18 holes of scenic golf, followed by a delightful presentation dinner at 4:30 pm to round off the day’s activities.

Set amid 176 acres of beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, Tewkesbury Park Hotel is celebrated for its luxurious accommodations, stunning vistas, and renowned golf course, making it the perfect setting for this year’s event. Known for hosting premium events and golf breaks, the hotel offered Wooden Spoon’s guests a memorable experience, combining relaxation with the thrill of competition.

Over 40 guests attended, and despite forecasts, the weather stayed dry for most of the day, giving everyone the chance to enjoy their rounds to the fullest. The day featured exciting competitions with prizes for the winning team, longest drive, and nearest the pin, adding to the spirited atmosphere and encouraging some friendly rivalries. After the tournament, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved lunch in Tewkesbury Park’s premier function room, which boasts exceptional views of the course – the perfect backdrop for winding down and celebrating the day’s successes.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and support of participants, the event raised £1,000, supporting the impactful projects Wooden Spoon carries out to help children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage across the UK. The Gloucestershire Region of Wooden Spoon is thrilled to have the Golf Day back on the calendar and is already looking forward to an even bigger event next year. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to making the day so special – we can’t wait to see you again on the green next year!
