Wooden Spoon receives £25K donation to support local food banks

Through the Rugby Family, Wooden Spoon has received a generous £25K donation, its purpose is to support local food banks up and down the country to help provide food for those struggling to feed their children and families in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis.

Wooden Spoon has pledged to match the generous donation and to date this year has donated £51,000 to food banks throughout the United Kingdom.

Foodshed, Stevenage

We’re incredibly grateful for the donation from Wooden Spoon to foodshed, donations like this are vital in ensuring that no child goes hungry. Each week we give away over 400 bags of food – last year we reached over 800 households and gave away 15,000 bags of food, at least half of which going to households with multiple children – and the need for support, especially for families, is only increasing.”

“ The money we have received from Wooden Spoon will go to ensuring we have plenty of food to provide for these children, including extra lunch items throughout the school holidays, toiletries and meals all year round. It will also help us to continue to support 2 school Breakfast clubs weekly, enabling the schools to provide free breakfasts to those pupils who would otherwise not have anything to eat before starting lessons. Thank you again for supporting the work of foodshed.”
