Applications Open for Wooden Spoon Grants Programme
Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby is encouraging charities, schools and not for profit organisations to apply for grant funding.
The charity which provides grants to regional not-for-profit organisations has £1.8 million in funds to release to projects that support its charitable aim to ‘make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and young people in the UK and Ireland through our commitment to quality charity work.’
Wooden Spoon has a national footprint, but the largest part of its income is raised by local volunteers in their local communities. Therefore, the charity’s aim is that every penny that raised locally is spent on projects supporting vulnerable children and young people in the same locality.
CEO, Sarah Webb said: “Over the coming year we are pledging to invest £1.8 million in grants that support children and young people in the most need. It has been a difficult few years for the charity sector and we are delighted that we are in a position where we can offer support through our grants programme to fund life-changing projects at a time that vulnerable children and young people need support more than ever.
“Our aim is to see how we can even better increase our impact and respond to the growing need for our grants, whilst ensuring we spend our funds in a way that has most impact on transforming the lives of vulnerable children and young people, giving them access to the opportunities and care that they deserve.
“I would urge those interested in applying this year to have a look at the information and guidance available on our website and to complete an Expression of Wish with us as soon as they can.”
