Reading RFC win Rugby Club Golf Challenge National Final

Wooden Spoon Kent held the annual Rugby Club Golf Challenge National Final at Knole Park Golf Club on Friday 20 September.

We had 23 teams playing for the large Wooden Spoon trophy. It was a Stableford competition with the best two scores counting on each hole. All players played off three quarters of their handicap.

One of the 23 teams at the Wooden Spoon Kent Rugby Club Golf Challenge National Final.

The competition was very close with 5 teams finishing with 80 points.

Reading RFC were winners having scored 41 points on the back nine. Dartford Valley RFC finished in 2nd place with 40 points on the back nine.

3rd & 4th was even closer with both Sheppey FC and Cranbrook RFC scoring 39 points on the back nine. Sheppey edged it with 24 points on the back six compared to Cranbrook with 22 points on the back six.

The Snakes finished in 5th place with 38 points on the back nine.

Knole Park Golf Club was in fantastic condition, made even better with an incredibly warm & sunny day for late September. Super atmosphere in the clubhouse for the late lunch which meant that the raffle and auction were well supported allowing us to raise just over £2,600.00 which is fantastic.

Proudly showing off the Wooden Spoon trophy.

Next year’s final will be run by Chilterns region at Henley Golf Club on 1st October. The organiser is Graham Horner.
