Kyran Speak-a-thon success

WOODEN Spoon Hertfordshire hosted Kyran Bracken’s third night for his Wooden Spoon Speak-a-thon at Welwyn RFC on Saturday 25 May 2019.

In addition to his sporting successes, Kyran is a celebrated motivational and after dinner speaker. Kyran was on sparkling form and had the audience in stitches with tales from his distinguished rugby career. He also helped raise valuable funds for the cause in his role as auctioneer, when he refused to take no for an answer! More money still was raised when he fired one of his famous bullet passes across the clubhouse, with anyone dropping the ball (which was most people!) being charged for the privilege!

Wooden Spoon’s National Rugby Manager, Matt Mitchell, was also in attendance and helped raise awareness of the charity via a video and stories from the recent Everest Challenge.

In total the event raised in excess of £2,700 for Wooden Spoon whilst sticking strictly to the charity’s policy of putting the fun into fundraising. Five new members also joined Wooden Spoon at the end of the evening.
