Kyran kicks off Speak-a-thon

HARLOW RFC hosted the initial evening of the first ever Wooden Spoon Speak-a-thon with Kyran Bracken on Thursday 23 May, raising over £2,000 to help the newly reformed Wooden Spoon Essex region to support disabled and disadvantaged children and young people in Essex.

In addition to his sporting successes, Kyran is a celebrated motivational and after dinner speaker. Kyran entertained guests with very funny accounts of his career both on the playing field and ice rink. At the end of the evening, guests were invited to face and catch his famous BULLET PASS.

Essex Wooden Spoon Co-Vice Chair and Wooden Spoon Vets Captain James Crouch said, “We are very grateful to Kyran for helping us to help make a difference here in Essex. We are a newly formed Region with ambitious plans to improve the lives of those children and young people, who unlike many of us will not have the opportunity to benefit from a life time of playing rugby”.

Co-Vice Chairman Richard Austin was keen to express the charity’s thanks to all involved in the event, “It is with thanks to Harlow rugby club’s President, club members and the growing number of Wooden Spoon members and supporters in Essex who attended the evening that the event has been a huge success; even if the True or False game did not go as planned – it was an entertaining evening all round”!
