Beach Touch Rugby in Brighton

WOODEN Spoon Sussex broke fresh ground – well sand – on Bank Holiday Saturday by supporting Lewes Ladies RFC in an informal touch rugby session on Brighton’s seafront.  Arranged by ‘Rab’ Willis they were entertaining a touring team from London Irish Women’s Rugby, with others from the Sussex area.

Rather than playing on the chunky pebbles of Brighton’s beach, all the fun was on the sandy beach volleyball pitch beneath the i360 tower and opposite the skeletal West Pier.

The passing weekend hordes were much impressed by the skill, agility and sheer enjoyment on display in what was a terrific profile for Wooden Spoon, women’s rugby and rugby generally.

For the record, London Irish won – just!
