From Rugby to Running

WOODEN Spoon have two amazing, rugby mad, London Marathon challengers to share with you this week – Gareth Biddle and Ben Ransom.

Our first brave fundraiser, taking on The Virgin Money London Marathon, is Gareth Biddle. Gareth is a member of Dorchester RFC, a partner club of Wooden Spoon. After moving into coaching rather than playing, Gareth decided to take up running to aim for a new goal and keep fit along the way.

Having taken part in some 10k and half marathon events, the London Marathon is now on his bucket list this will be his first try at running 26 miles and 385 yards – we are therefore delighted that he has chosen to raise funds for Wooden Spoon. His fundraising efforts have been impressive, including holding a charity silent disco, and has already raised over £4,500.

Gareth will be running in memory of his Godfather, Steve Paice, and next door neighbour, Bob Moore, who both loved rugby.

Another one of our fundraisers is Ben Ransom. Not only is he a former Saracens player, turned Oxford MBA student and Honorary President of Wooden Spoon Hertfordshire, he has decided to take part in The Virgin Money London Marathon this year fundraising for Wooden Spoon.
