Hastings RFC rise to the Everest Challenge

IN EARLY March Hastings and Bexhill RFC, who are long term supporters of Wooden Spoon Sussex, held a fundraising lunch for the LMAX Exchange Everest Rugby challenge.

Guests of Honour were Lesley and Roger Davies, Hastings residents who are taking part in the Guinness World Record attempt to play the World’s Highest ever rugby matches at 6,500 metres.

Eighty guests were treated to an excellent lunch and entertainment by Peter Knight (Sussex committee member), Bob Rogers (Sussex Chairman) and Roy Wake (Hastings RFC President).

Roger Davis, a veteran adventurer who has undertaken numerous adventures and whose family have a strong rugby background explained some of the challenges that he and Lesley would be facing in the attempt which starts on 13 April.

Thanks to Hastings and Bexhill RFC for a very enjoyable and entertaining day which not only raised £850 towards the Everest Challenge but also saw the Cub 1st XV win their home league match.
