The impossible dream
LAST year, whilst training for the London Marathon 2018, Allan Wood was involved in a road traffic accident which resulted in him damaging his pelvis, a hip, knee and foot. As if this couldn’t be enough, he also punctured both of his lungs, broke his ribs and bones in his back. He was rushed straight to hospital and remained there for 5 ½ weeks – for half of this time he was in an induced coma.
Once he was discharged, Allan’s main focus was to finish what he started – fundraising for Wooden Spoon and complete The London Marathon 2019!
Through pure grit and determination Allan overcame many battles, including learning to walk again.
This will be Allan’s third year of fundraising for Wooden Spoon having raised more than £7,500 in 2017 and 2018. His motivation and dedication is truly inspiring; all of us at here at Wooden Spoon know how incredibly lucky we are to have him supporting the charity in the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon.
