Merseyside annual lunch at Anfield
WOODEN Spoon Merseyside raised £17,259 at their annual lunch hosted by Liverpool Football club which will go towards local projects. The auction which included items such as Liverpool and Everton football shirts, cricket bats, photographs, tickets to internationals rugby matches and Gallagher Premiership games raised a fantastic £6,495.
More than three hundred guests attended the event at Anfield including Wooden Spoon Chair of Trustees Quentin Smith. Smith made a short speech outlining the work of Wooden Spoon and he was followed by John Thompson head teacher of Mill Lane School St. Helens where Wooden Spoon had installed a wheelchair swing. He explained how the swing helped in the education of his special needs pupils.
Former England international and British Lion, John Bentley, had the guests rocking in their seats with an amusing speech which was followed by comedian Bill Woolland.
Wooden Spoon Merseyside would like to thank all the organisations and businesses who brought tickets and gave so generously at the event, and all those who donated auction and raffle prizes.
