Phil Burgess launches Crouch Hold Engage charity ale

WOODEN Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby has partnered with Andwell Brewing Company, an award-winning brewery based in Hampshire to produce a rugby-themed charity ale, Crouch Hold Engage, to help raise awareness and funds for the charity. We were delighted to welcome special guest, Team GB and International 7s player, Phil Burgess, who helped to brew the ale during the afternoon and took part in a Q&A session during the evening.

Andwell launch Wooden Spoon charity ale.

Crouch Hold Engage is scrummy, rich amber, traditional English bitter and is the perfect accompaniment to the world of rugby. It’s brewed with a blend of pale ale, brown and crystal malt giving a gentle spicy hoppiness and is available in bottles at 4.6%abv and cask at 4.5%abv. The charity ale will be found in many bars and pubs throughout the South of the UK from November 2018, with plans to expand circulation nationwide in 2019.

“We are thrilled to have collaborated with an award-winning, acclaimed brewery to produce this charity ale. It will provide us with a fantastic opportunity to promote awareness of the charity and raise valuable funds to support our upcoming projects. Andwell’s has crafted an enjoyable, scrumptious ale that we think will be very popular,” commented Ian Lindsay, Head of Business Development at Wooden Spoon.

Andwell Brewing Company will donate a percentage of all sales of Crouch Hold Engage to Wooden Spoon who support children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland through the power of rugby.
