In memory of James Huxtable
FOLLOWING the truly tragic death of 24 year old James ‘Hux’ Huxtable earlier in March this year, his family very kindly presented Wooden Spoon Cornwall with a large cheque in his memory. The money raised was the result of a generous collection at James’ funeral.
The presentation was made at Redruth RFC’s first home fixture of the season against Taunton, in September 2018. It was chosen as a fitting fixture as James had played fly half for both teams during his rugby career. There have been so many heartfelt tributes paid to this young man by his past clubs – to his many fine attributes, amazing personality and his commitment to all he did, on and off the pitch.
Tributes paid to him by former clubs included; “He was a key player in all the clubs he represented” and “You’re a class act that your family can be so proud of and our club is privileged you chose us” (Belsize Park RFC). Those clubs included Redruth (where his Dad and Grandad also once played), Kings College Taunton, University of Bath and his final club Belsize Park RFC.
James was on a night out with his team mates, following a game when he sadly lost his life.
Our sincere thanks go out to James’ family, his Mum – Angela, Dad – Keith and brother – Adam for their very moving gesture. Their generous donation will certainly be put towards some very deserving projects Wooden Spoon Cornwall are supporting.
