Rugby and Sailing unite at Regatta
THE second Wooden Spoon Regatta enjoyed fair winds and great teamwork as the worlds of rugby and sailing united once again in a bid to raise funds to support children and young people with a disability or facing disadvantage in the UK and Ireland. Our thanks go to all who supported the 2018 Regatta and helped to raise much-needed funds for Wooden Spoon.
The Regatta was contested by crews aboard identical Beneteau First Match 40s. The crews were supported by expert skippers provided by Sunsail.
After a full day of excitement on the water, the winners were announced at the evening celebrations. In first place was Cox Automotive, while a crew representing Wooden Spoon came in a close second with Wooden Spoon Ambassador Ollie Phillips on board, and the team from Royal Harwich Yacht Club came in third place. Our commiserations go to Walter Lily who took home this year’s wooden spoon.
During the evening, guests were entertained with engaging anecdotes from Ollie Phillips and professional sailor and sailing pundit Pete Cumming.
Our thanks go to all those who supported the event, event sponsors and Sunsail for its part in bringing together a thrilling day of sailing.
