Eastern Counties Annual Charity Golf Day
NINETEEN teams met up at a sun soaked Stoke by Nayland golf club to take on the Gainsborough course
in scorching temperatures.
Certainly the weather took it’s toll as some of the players laboured in the heat, but all had a very enjoyable day followed by an excellent dinner where they were entertained by David Trick (Bath and England rugby) with stories of his playing carrier at the top level.
David presented the prizes to the winners. Team winners were “The Old Gits” comprising of Steve Ling, Mike Moore, John Parkinson and John Williams. The individual winner was Alan Bolton. David Druitt was the winner of ‘nearest the hole’ as he scored a hole in one! Tradition usually says the player who gets a hole in one buys everyone in the club a drink but instead David generously donated £100 to Wooden Spoon Eastern Counties.
The day raised more than £4,000 for projects in the region and we would like to thank all who provided raffle and auction items especially Fossil UK and Jon Horrocks of Blue 449. As ever our thanks also go to our treasurer Alan Line for all his efforts in organising the day.
