Sensory room provides calm space

Sensory room Wales opening

Paul Thorburn officially opened the new sensory room.

REPRESENTATIVES from Wooden Spoon Wales were privileged to visit Carmarthenshire recently. The project funded by Wooden Spoon Wales (approx £6,000) was a sensory room in a refuge for women and women with families.

Paul Thorburn officially opened the latest project at the Carmarthen Domestic Abuse Service refuge, which supports women and children affected by domestic abuse. Whilst the refuge provides a safe place for families, there is a need for a calm space within for children who may find themselves far from friends and extended family.

During the visit we met trustees, staff and families at the refuge, who were delighted with the new facilities.

Refuge can be accessed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, via the 24 hour All Wales Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Helpline (0808 80 10 800).
