Kent Society referees sport our Socks

KENT Society of Rugby Football Union Referees sported Wooden Spoon socks at the weekend (27-28th January 2018) right across the county, to raise awareness of the work of Wooden Spoon.

Around 40 referees at Kent fixtures took to the field with their whistle wearing the recognisable Wooden Spoon stripy socks. The referees all come on board to support the charity by not only participating but also by contributing to the cost of the socks.

Alan Crane, Kent Society Chief Financial Officer pledged that ‘For every pair of socks purchased by our referees the Society will match £5 per purchase so that Wooden Spoon can use the full £10 to provide their vital support in the community.

“I have personal knowledge of the great work Wooden Spoon does and am delighted the Kent Referees’ Society has become a member organisation. We are especially proud to be the first Referees Society in England to take this step and look forward to helping Wooden Spoon in the future.’
