Festive fish and chips on Worthing Pier

DUE to the refurbishment of Brighton Pier’s Palm Court Restaurant, Wooden Spoon Sussex’s 2017 Christmas Lunch was held in the iconic Art Deco listed Southern Pavilion on Worthing Pier.

One hundred and sixty members and supporters of Wooden Spoon assembled on Wednesday 6th December for the three course lunch, which included the traditional fish and chips. They were superbly entertained by top comedian Russ Williams.

As a result of the excellent attendance, ‘heads & tails’ and a six item auction, the event raised a magnificent £5,570 to be spent on capital projects to benefit children and young people with a disability or facing disadvantage who live in Sussex.

On the same day, 38 members and supporters of Hastings and Bexhill Rugby Club, not able to travel to Worthing, held a similar Spoon Christmas Lunch in St Leonards and raised a brilliant £665 for Wooden Spoon.  For the same reason and on the same day, Crowborough Rugby Club held a lunch and raised a further £168 for Wooden Spoon.
