Spoonfull of joy at Devon Christmas lunch
WOODEN Spoon Devon and the Exeter Foundation held a successful and enjoyable joint Christmas lunch on 8th December, raising over £18,000 for the two charities in a fun-filled afternoon. More than 350 guests attended the event at Sandy Park, home to the Premiership champions Exeter Chiefs.
It was a packed afternoon of speakers, games, auctions and raffles, all while enjoying a festive lunch. Devon Honorary President David Trick was Master of Ceremonies for the day; guest speaker was Martin Corry and Jack Nowell took part in a Q&A, both to everyone’s enjoyment. Martin and Jack each gave entertaining accounts of games won and lost on both sides of the world.
Other VIPs for Devon’s hot ticket event included Spoony, Big Chief and Mr England, the official mascot of the RFU. This is the second joint event and has proved so popular that a date has already been set for next year to do it all again, put 7th December 2018 in you diary! We even had a souvenir beer bottling thanks to one of our amazing sponsors, Exeter Brewery.
Huge thanks to all our generous sponsors, guests and volunteers without which this fantastic total would not have been possible.
