Mr England saddles up for Wooden Spoon
Mr England, the official mascot of the RFU, is swapping his St George’s Cross-emblazoned top hat and tails for lycra in a bid to raise funds for Wooden Spoon.
A familiar face for fans visiting Twickenham, Peter Cross will take to the saddle on the 30th July to tackle the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100.
The avid rugby fan will be joined on the ride, which begins at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s stunning countryside, by good friend and fellow Wooden Spoon Devon supporter Peter Cockram.
Although both seasoned campaigners in the saddle, the pair’s fundraising feat for the children’s charity of rugby will be far from easy, with the route made famous by the world’s best cyclists at the London 2012 Olympics featuring a number of leg-testing climbs.
