THE Wooden Spoon Kent Golf Day was a fantastic day with twenty-nine ‘4ball’ teams playing and raising a fantastic amount of more than £9,ooo which will go to local projects.

We had a shotgun start at 09.00hrs and everyone was off the course just before 2pm. We managed to get seated for lunch at 3.15pm.

The format for the day was a Stableford competition with the best two scores to count on each hole. Some fantastic golf was played by all! Third place went to Purely Maintenance Ltd, captained by Andrew Thompson, with 87 points.

They were pipped for 2nd pace on countback by Dartford Valley Vagabonds, captained by Stephen Tite who also scored 87 points. The winning team was The ‘Three Spade’ Openers, captained by Keith Miles with a brilliant score of 97 points. They were certainly helped as Joe Staffurth, one of their team members, got a hole in one on the 8th.

There was a brilliant atmosphere throughout the day, which meant that everyone was in a generous frame of mind which allowed us to have the best day we’ve had for a number of years by raising just over £9,000.

Adger Brown kept us all amused with his stories and did a wonderful job for us as MC and Auctioneer.

Knole Park Golf Club hosted the day for us. The course was in superb condition and the atmosphere in the clubhouse for lunch was excellent. Great course, super food and friendly staff is why we come back year after year.

We will be back again next year on Friday 8th June and already have lots of spaces reserved.
