British Lion legend opens sensory room for special needs school in Swansea

Local boy Robert Jones MBE was a big hit with the children when he opened two new light & dark sensory rooms at Gwyrosydd Primary School in Swansea.

Wooden Spoon Wales donated £8,000 to fund the project, for Autistic Spectrum classes at the Special Teaching Facility. Previously storerooms, the new ‘state of the art’ sensory rooms will have a huge positive ‘stimulus’ impact on the severely autistic pupils at the unit.

Chris Brown of Barclays Bank joined governors & Wooden Spoon Wales representatives at the official launch.

Robert won 54 caps for Wales, played in three World Cups & went on two Lions tours including the victorious 1989 British Lions tour to Australia.
