Wooden Spoon unveil new play area at Highfurlong School
WOODEN Spoon Lancashire helped fund the creation of an accessible play area for disabled young people at Highfurlong School. The Highfurlong School outdoor play area was officially opened in May 2016.
The region committed more than £57,000.00 to the project which is wheelchair friendly and involves sensory equipment, musical instruments and an adventure play section.
Assistant headteacher, Cherryl Drabble said: “It’s for both able-bodied children and those in wheelchairs as well, so they can play together. The children adore it. They can’t wait to get out and have a go on the swinging chair. They are really enjoying it! It’s got a rubber surface so even if they fall over they don’t hurt themselves”
