An evening with Charlie Sharples at Cheltenham Rugby Club

On Tuesday 5 April 2016, Wooden Spoon Gloucestershire held an evening with Charlie Sharples at the Cheltenham Rugby Club.

The evening was a great success with over 50 people attending and a lively question and answer session with Charlie Sharples, Ben Morgan and Jon Afoa.

Sharples made his Premiership debut for Gloucester against London Irish on 8 March 2008 and scored a maiden top-flight hat-trick against Sale Sharks on 7 May 2011.

To date Charlie Sharples has 176 caps for Gloucester, and four caps for England. Sharples attended with his leg strapped due to cruciate ligament injury that will unfortunately keep him out for the rest of the season.

2003 World Cup winner, Trevor Woodmen attended as well as ex-Gloucester player, Peter Buxton to show their support for Wooden Spoon.

The evening ended with a presentation of the Partner Club Programme plaque. Wooden Spoon’s Partner Club Programme is a new initiative which offers rugby clubs at every level, support to raise funds both for their club and for charity projects in their local area supporting disabled and disadvantaged children.
