The Wooden Spoon National Golf Final off to a tee with support from Masters Golf

21 teams from across the country gathered at St. Pierre Marriott Hotel and Country Club to compete in the annual Wooden Spoon National Golf Final.

The foggy start to the day didn’t dampen any spirits, with the sun finally making an appearance the teams teed off in high spirits. The competition was extremely tight, with all the golfers showing their competitive sides!

At halfway house, the golfers enjoyed chilled drinks kindly donated by Heineken, before heading off to play the second half of 18 holes. We were delighted to see so many teams in team tops, particularly the team with home made Wooden Spoon name badges!

After a long day on the impressive course, guests enjoyed well deserved drinks whilst taking part in the ‘putting green challenge’ for their chance to win 1.8 litres of Sake (rice wine). The competition was tense but in the end, Steve Rose’s putting skills shone through to claim him the prize.

The prize giving dinner in the evening, hosted by comedian Aaron James, revealed the champions of 2015. Congratulations goes to our competition winners, Ian Prescott for Nearest The Pin, and to Graham Gabb for Longest Drive. The golf scores were tight, but winners from Kent claimed the crown with 89 points, closely followed Chilterns 2 with 85 points, and Lancashire with 79 points.

A big thank you goes out to all our guests and particularly to Heineken for their generous donation. A special thanks goes to Masters Golf who have generously sponsored this event for the last 6 years. We look forward to welcoming our champions from across the UK at the next one!
