Wooden Spoon Merseyside lunch raises record funds

A perfect combination of a great venue, the iconic Anfield, home of Liverpool Football Club and a popular event now in its sixth year, Wooden Spoon Merseyside welcomed a record number of nearly 200 supporters at its annual lunch.

Wooden Spoon committee member David Reed introduced a novel way of getting the fundraising going by handing out a wooden spoon to all the guests which could be exchanged, with £2, for the more conventional cutlery!

Legendary Rugby League and Union commentators Ray French MBE and Ian Robertson kept everyone enthralled, with a vigorously conducted auction and comedian Bill Wooland amused the audience to conclude the event.

Nearly £10,000 was raised which will help projects that transform the lives of disadvantaged and disabled children in Merseyside. Thank you to everyone who supported the event, see you next year!
