Webb Ellis cup visits Wooden Spoon Merseyside
Wooden Spoon Merseyside experienced a taste of history when our committee welcomed the arrival of the Webb Ellis Trophy during a flying visit to Lancashire.
A fantastic number of supporters turned out for the midweek lunch, with proceedings hosted by Ray French. Also present were Rugby legends Fran Cotton and Mike Slemen whose careers began with Liverpool and finished with England and the British Lions. Bill Beaumont was on hand in the morning as a mammoth junior rugby festival took place along with opportunities to be photographed with the Trophy.
Wooden Spoon Merseyside Chairman Stan Bagshaw was delighted to raise over £800 from the event, hailing it a great success.
