Kent supports Dartford Valley RFC wheelchair rugby launch
Not one to miss out on a community event that promotes sports inclusion for all, Wooden Spoon Kent was proud to help Dartford Valley RFC officially launch their new Wheelchair Rugby squad. All were welcome to come and see what wheelchair rugby is all about, get involved, and even give it a try!
Matches were held throughout the morning for everyone to join. The standard for the games was set by Rugby Captain of Dartford Valley RFC Wheelchair Squad Dan Edwards, who has just won his first England cap. Teams were made up of club members and their families – no-one was excluded (even the Mayor of Dartford had a go).
Wooden Spoon Kent was represented by Richard Russ and Carolyn Clifton, who felt privileged to be part of the event, working alongside a club that embraces the core values of rugby.
Wheelchair rugby provides an opportunity for people with disabilities to participate in an exciting competitive sport. It is an inclusive sport where all players can play together, irrespective of their age, gender, fitness, ability or level of disability. Thanks goes to the official Club Photographer, Pete Bresser, for sharing the images.
